I retired from Mesa Public Schools 6 years ago after an enjoyable 30 years of teaching math. Currently, I am an associate professor teaching part time at ASU and MCC. Occasionally, I substitute for MPS because they are desperate particularly in the areas of math and science. Since January 1, I have not received any calls to sub -- usually my phone rings non stop every Monday and Friday, the only twos days teachers ever get sick. When I checked on it, I was told that my fingerprint card needed to be updated. I guess they dramatically change every 4 years. I asked for an exception for myself but no, "If we do it for you then..." Here I sit, idle, with a skill to use for a desperate need because my old prints are not acceptable. By the way, I am a quadruple amputee. Go figger!
